Moi's special interests,reading,music,movies,jigsaw puzzles.

   As with music and books, movies are also memory associated and transport me like books into a different world.

Sadly today's films don't seem to have the same spellbinding effect. Too many rely on special effects and not much is left to the imagination. Really good films these days are few and far between. Many are remakes of the classic films and except for a very few I still haven't seen a remake that is anything as good as the original, maybe Hollywood is loosing it's touch or simply running out of original scripts. Alas the days of the magical musicals are gone forever.

Seven years ago I started collecting 'Classic Films' for my father. To date he has a collection of approx. 1500 films in his collection, from the 1st 1927 sound film "The Jazz Singer" starring Al Jolson to the 2000 film " U 571".

The films are sorted into categories each with a different coloured video label and number.

Epic Tales - Blue.            Biblical - Orange            Biographies - Grey        Western - Green

War and Espionage - Yellow    South African - Red        Cartoon - Brown
Over 60's - Pink    Classic - White

The Classic and Over 60's films are in alphabetical order under the stars name:-

A - June Allyson, Fred Astaire

B - Humphrey Bogart

C - Gary Cooper

E - Clint Eastwood

G - Whoopee Goldberg

S - Arnold Schwarzenegger

For easy 'viewing' I have compiled a catalogue of all the different categories and reference numbers. My father keeps his collection of films in strict order to coincide with the catalogue.

Though this film search I have met many other interesting film collectors, never realizing how many people are still interested in the 'Golden Era' of movie magic. Due to this I started a small business where I search for films, books etc which are difficult to find or out of print, locally, and on the Internet for those who don't have access to the world at their finger tips. It is a very interesting and entertaining hobby.

I compile film catalogues for some of these collectors and also;

  • Make copies of 'Family' video tapes e.g. weddings and special occasions;

  • Clean tapes;

  • And with the help of my dear friend 'Freddy' - convert video's from Beta, Ntsc systems to the Pal system and repair broken tapes.

My own private collection is nothing compared to my father's and consists of the films that hold the most sentimental memories for me. They are:
